Further trip information

Day 1: Merida. Are you ready for the time of your life? There are no activities planned today apart from a meeting with your group to get the low-down on the epic adventures we’ve got in store.

Day 2: Merida. Today we’re heading to a cenote for a dip. Cenotes are underground sinkholes unique to the Yucatan. Filled with crystal-clear freshwater, it’s a magical way to escape the heat. Spend the afternoon exploring Merida before hitting the tequilas with your new friends!

Day 3: Merida to Rio Lagartos. After a free morning in Merida, travel to the seaside town of Rio Lagartos. You’ll want your camera for today’s excursion to the Insta-famous bright pink lakes of Las Coloradas – seeing is believing! Look out for the biggest flock of flamingos in Mexico too!

Day 4: Rio Lagartos to Tulum. Continue to lively Tulum where we’ll visit the famous Mayan Ruins, perched on a clifftop above a picture-postcard beach. After, cool off in the turquoise sea, before getting ready to go out - Tulum’s nightlife is legendary!

Day 5: Tulum. Enjoy a free day in Tulum. Visit one of the nearby cenotes, take a day trip to Chichen Itza, or just catch some rays on the aptly named Paradise Beach. Tonight, hit up some beach bars for a few cheeky margaritas with your mates.

Day 6: Tulum to Playa Del Carmen. Our final stop is Playa Del Carmen. With an impressive array of dazzling beaches, spend the day topping up your tan and cooling off in the surf. Tonight, we’ll enjoy a farewell dinner at an authentic community restaurant - this is real Mexico.

Day 7: Playa Del Carmen. It’s the last day of your amazing Mexican adventure, so pack your bags, say your goodbyes and leave whenever you’re ready.

Arrival information

Arrive into Manuel Cresencio Rejon International Airport (MID). The Airport is just over 6km from our start point in Merida. If you’ve arranged for an arrival transfer, one of our friendly greeters will be at the airport to meet you. If you’ve decided to make your own way to the starting accommodation, jump in a taxi for the short journey. Day 1 is arrival day, and no activities have been planned other than your welcome meeting in the evening, so you can arrive at any time. At the welcome meeting you’ll get to know the rest of your group and learn all about the adventures we’ve got in store for you! A welcome note will be left for you in the hotel, telling you when and where the meeting will take place. If you arrive later than the evening meeting time, no probs. You can see everybody the next morning.

This trip ends in Playa Del Carmen. You’ll need to leave from Cancun International Airport (CUN). Taxi transfers from Playa Del Carmen take around 50 minutes. Your guide can help you arrange this for you if you like.

Accommodation & meals

Accommodation

You’ll have 6 nights in simple hostels or hotels throughout the trip. We’ve chosen a unique range of accommodation to give a real Mexican flavour to your trip! Some nights we use multi-share accommodation (4 – 6 people per room), which is always on a single-sex basis.

Meals

6 breakfasts and 1 dinner are included on this trip. This allows you maximum flexibility to decide where and when to eat. Our groups usually eat together as it’s always more fun to share the experience, but there’s no obligation to do so.

Minimum age & eligibility

Travellers must be 18 to join this trip. This trip is designed for travelers aged between 18-39.

UK passport holders don’t need a visa to enter Mexico, but you’ll need to complete an immigration form and have this with you when you enter and leave the country. You can either get one when you arrive or in advance online. The advance option is only available if you have at least 6 months remaining on your passport from point of entry to Mexico. Otherwise, your passport only needs to be valid for the proposed duration of your stay in Mexico. Visa rules and regulations are subject to change. Please check the relevant embassy websites for the most up to date visa information.

Covid safety

This trip is designed with your safety and wellbeing in mind. As a result of Covid-19, many of our suppliers and partners around the world are introducing new policies and procedures surrounding health and safety in response to the Coronavirus outbreak. As the state of travel is evolving these new safety measures will adapt over time, and will be different for each trip. Here are some of the changes you may see on your trip:

Arrival safety meetings
Most trips have an arrival meeting on the first day where the guide or local team will run through the trip, the safety protocols, and to answer any questions you may have. Now more than ever it is important you arrive in time for these meetings.

Updated hygiene and safety procedures
Our suppliers and partners have health and safety procedures in place on all of our trips. These protocols will be updated and adapted as a response to the Coronavirus outbreak, dependent on local restrictions and laws.

Transport and accommodation choices
Our suppliers and partners choose the accommodation and transport on our trips very carefully, and you may see a change to what would normally be used as a response to the outbreak. This may involve such changes as enhanced use of private transport or quieter accommodation.

Trained and knowledgeable staff
Our staff in the UK are trained to help you with your trip before you depart and answer any questions you may have. In addition, the local team and guides on our trips are there to help with any health and safety concerns and to ensure our trips run safely and smoothly.

Reduced group sizes
Some trips will run with reduced group sizes to start with. You may find that trips are more intimate and chilled, whilst still being packed with fun and adventure.

Healthcare
Your guide or the local team will be on hand to help you seek medical attention should you require it during your trip. As medical facilities and standards can vary around the world, you should ensure you have adequate travel insurance in place before you depart to cover you for any medical emergencies.

24/7 emergency support
We operate an emergency phone line for our travellers abroad. This is operated by a UK based member of staff 24/7 if you have a genuine emergency or urgent matter that you need attending.

It is important that you take measures to make travelling safer for yourself and others around you. Ensure you frequently wash your hands, cover your face when you sneeze and cough, bring and use your own hand sanitiser and facial coverings/masks, and enable social distancing where necessary. You should also ensure you listen to the instructions and guidance of the local team at all times, and follow all local laws and restrictions.
