If you are a qualified architect, or are part qualified, you can get a paying job in Australia or New Zealand, or an internship in India or China.
If you are 18 and 30 you can qualify for the working holiday visa for both Australia and New Zealand. This allows you to work legally for an employer using your skills and getting paid the going rate. In the case of New Zealand you could stay up to 23 months, but in Australia your stay is limited to 12 months, unless you spend at least 3 months working on a farm, in which case your stay can be extended to 23 months.
The economy in Australia is way better than in the UK at present, and your skills can be put to good use in a variety of placements. You could be living the Aussie lifestyle, enjoying the social life and weather, pretty fast. Have an Absolute Oz time of it, starting in Sydney with a week of introductions, then get down to the more serious business of finding an architectural job placement.
Architectural help is needed in many countries, but apart from casual volunteering most countries require special visas for entry. In China and India however there are internships available at architectural firms that could offer you some amazing opportunities to work in a completely different culture.
