What do I do about accommodation after the first week?
After the first week, most of our travellers choose to rent an apartment, often sharing with the new friends they have made in the first week. The jobs team in Darwin will be able to advise you of suitable accommodation options in The Northern Territory. You can expect to pay around £150 per week on average for rent in Australia. The minimum contract is normally 3 months but some agencies will ask you to commit to six months. Alternatively you can extend your stay in a hostel, which offers cheaper rates for those that want a long term stay. You can often walk in and get a room that day but we recommend that you make a reservation the night before. Depending on where you stay, you can expect to pay around £140- £175 per week in a hostel.
Please note that when you are working in Australia, you will earn more than enough to cover any living expenses such as rent, food and bills. If you would like any more information about costs and accommodation please speak to your travel advisor for more details.

Second and Third Year Visas
Due to the free trade agreement between the UK and Australia, British citizens can apply for up to 3 working holiday visas without the need to do rural/farm work to be eligible. This allows British citizens to stay in Australia for up to 3 years in total. Each visa is granted separately and is valid for 1 year. Second and third year visas can be done consecutively, but they don't need to be. As long as you meet the standard age and eligibility requirements you can apply at any time, either from Australia or abroad. Gap 360 can help you apply for the first year visa, but you will need to apply directly for any second or third year visas yourself once you have started your first year visa in Australia.
