Say ‘Africa’ to most backpackers and their first thought will probably be South Africa. Kruger National Park, Cape Town, the Garden Route…South Africa is certainly full of mouthwatering travel prospects…
But wait! Africa is an enormous continent with way more to offer than just SA!
From the National Parks of Tanzania to the beaches of Malawi, we’re here to show you why Africa should feature heavily on your travel bucket list.
Tanzania
Just south of Kenya, Tanzania is a gorgeous country with loads to offer. The island of Zanzibar offers both blissful relaxation on white-sand beaches, and vibrant city life in the narrow streets of Stone Town. Meanwhile, incredible wildlife can be found in Serengeti National Park, home to lions, leopards, cheetahs and elephants. Check out Tanzania on our Tanzania and Zanzibar Adventure.
Malawi
Continuing south, you’ll find Malawi, a country of dense forests, soaring mountain peaks, and sparkling lakes. You’ll also find two of the most perfect beaches in the world. Both Kande and Chitimba Beach overlook the glimmering waters of Lake Malawi. Stretch out on the sands here and soak up that glorious African sun! See Malawi on our Zanzibar, Victoria Falls and Kruger tour.
Zambia
West of Malawi is Zambia, home to one of the world’s most incredible waterfalls. Located on the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe, Victoria Falls is an epic sheet of falling water that is as beautiful as it is powerful. Spend 3 days here on our Zanzibar, Victoria Falls and Kruger tour.
Zimbabwe
Hopping over the southern Zambian border brings you to Zimbabwe. This awesome country contains incredible wildlife, most of which can be seen in Matobo National Park. This landscape of rocky peaks and wooded valleys is home to rhinos, giraffes, hippos and much more. See them all on safari on our African Insight trip.
Namibia
On the west coast of Africa lies Namibia. A hugely diverse range of travel experiences are available here. If you want adrenaline activities, such as quad biking and sky diving, head to Swakopmund. If you want wonderful wildlife in a majestic natural setting head to Etosha National Park. And if you want to see the world’s second largest canyon, get over to Fish River. See it all on our epic 58-day Ultimate African Overlander.
