Is there anything more American than a road trip? Explore the wonderful West Coast over two weeks on this epic group tour. It’s an iconic line-up of destinations including Hollywood’s Walk of Fame, the legendary Route 66, San Fran’s Golden Gate Bridge and Vegas baby! You’ll also see some of the most spectacular natural wonders in the world, from the soaring sequoias of Yosemite and the golden beaches of the California coast to the unforgettable Grand Canyon – bucket-list, ticked!

Days 1 - 2: Los Angeles to San Diego. Famous for its beautiful beaches, great weather and surf, sunny San Diego is a great place to kick off your trip. Check out Balboa Park, the historic Gaslamp Quarter and the vintage amusement park on Mission Beach, or just bum around on the beautiful beaches with the surf dudes!
Day 3: Prescott. Drive through the Mojave Desert under endless blue skies. Stop at the Imperial Sand Dunes, the largest of their kind in California and finish your day in the colourful boom-town of Prescott, Arizona.
Days 4 – 5: Grand Canyon National Park. Today’s destination is a real bucket-list item - the incomparable Grand Canyon. You’ve got two days to explore. Go on an epic hike, treat yourself to a helicopter ride and learn all about how the Canyon was formed at the IMAX Theatre.
Days 6 – 7: Route 66 – Las Vegas. Travel a section of the legendary Route 66 today. Stop at Seligman for kitsch stores, retro diners and classic cars. Next up, it’s Vegas baby! Kick off with a limo tour before hitting the casinos, checking out a show and partying ‘til the sun comes up. What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas!
Days 8 -9: Yosemite National Park. Travel on to Yosemite. This jaw-dropping National Park is nature at its most majestic. Spend two days exploring its splendours, with options to hike through the Park, take a bike tour or float down the Merced River on a rubber ring!
Days 10 – 11: San Francisco. Travel to stunning San Fran. On arrival we’ll take you on a tour of the legendary Haight-Ashbury area, before leaving you to explore the area at your own pace. Cross the Golden Gate Bridge, check out Alcatraz, ride the cable cars, and visit the sea lions at Pier 39.
Day 12: California Coast. Follow the winding roads of California’s exquisite coastline. Our destination today is the San Luis Obispo area. Take a refreshing dip in the ocean before freshening up ahead of a night out with the group.
Day 13: Santa Barbara. Explore beautiful Santa Barbara today with its stunning architecture, pristine beaches, delicious local wine and varied bars and eateries. Relax on the beach, explore the Spanish Mission, pick up some souvenirs and enjoy the buzzing nightlife when the sun goes down.
Day 14: Santa Barbara to Los Angeles. Travel back to Sunny LA for the final day of your trip. Stroll the Walk of Fame, snap a selfie at the iconic Hollywood sign, take a beach walk from Venice to Santa Monica, hike Griffith Park or visit a movie studio. The tour ends at around 5pm.

Your tour begins at 7.30am on day 1 so you’ll need to arrange your flights to arrive at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) the day before your programme start date or earlier. Your travel adviser can help you arrange pre-trip accommodation at an additional cost. Free airport transfer is available if you book with one of our associated hotels.
The Tour finishes at around 5pm on day 14 and we recommend you book a post-trip night of accommodation before heading home. Again, we can help you arrange this. If you need to fly tonight we suggest you don’t book anything before 9pm.
This trip includes 13 nights of accommodation in a mixture of hostels, hotels and motels. Rooms are basic but clean and comfortable. Rooms are on a multi-share basis, sleeping 4 to 6 people with shared facilities. Rooms are single-sex. Where possible we try to keep the group together. If you’re travelling with a friend or partner, let us know when you book so we can be certain to place you together. Private rooms are available at an extra cost. Meals aren’t included on this trip. This gives you maximum flexibility to eat where and when you like. Americans really know how to eat out and you’ll find a great selection of restaurants, cafes and diners, serving food from all around the world, usually in super-sized portions!
The minimum age to join this group tour is 18. Please remember that the legal drinking age in the USA is 21. If you are under 21 you will not be allowed entry into bars, casinos or pubs.
British Nationals visiting the USA will be able to travel (for tourism purposes) under the US Visa Waiver Programme for durations of up to 90 days. All travellers going to the United States will have to complete the ESTA form online for authorisation under the Visa Waiver Programme. If you intend to stay for longer than this, plan to work, have ever been arrested or hold any criminal convictions however, you will need to apply for a visa. This trip is designed with your safety and wellbeing in mind. Most trips have an arrival meeting on the first day where the guide or local team will run through the trip, the safety protocols, and to answer any questions you may have. Now more than ever it is important you arrive in time for these meetings.

Our suppliers and partners have health and safety procedures in place on all of our trips. These protocols will be updated and adapted as a response to the Coronavirus outbreak, dependent on local restrictions and laws.
Transport and accommodation choices
Our suppliers and partners choose the accommodation and transport on our trips very carefully, and you may see a change to what would normally be used as a response to the outbreak. This may involve such changes as enhanced use of private transport or quieter accommodation.
Trained and knowledgeable staff
Our staff in the UK are trained to help you with your trip before you depart and answer any questions you may have. In addition, the local team and guides on our trips are there to help with any health and safety concerns and to ensure our trips run safely and smoothly.
Reduced group sizes
Some trips will run with reduced group sizes to start with. You may find that trips are more intimate and chilled, whilst still being packed with fun and adventure.
Your guide or the local team will be on hand to help you seek medical attention should you require it during your trip. As medical facilities and standards can vary around the world, you should ensure you have adequate travel insurance in place before you depart to cover you for any medical emergencies.
24/7 emergency support
We operate an emergency phone line for our travellers abroad. This is operated by a UK based member of staff 24/7 if you have a genuine emergency or urgent matter that you need attending.
It is important that you take measures to make travelling safer for yourself and others around you. Ensure you frequently wash your hands, cover your face when you sneeze and cough, bring and use your own hand sanitiser and facial coverings/masks, and enable social distancing where necessary. You should also ensure you listen to the instructions and guidance of the local team at all times, and follow all local laws and restrictions.
