You will need to arrange your flights to arrive in to Suvarnabhumi airport in Bangkok between 6am and 10pm on day one of the Thai Adventure. Our local team will be waiting for you with a 'Gap 360' sign. They will take you to your hotel where you will be introduced to the rest of your group.
The Thai Adventure ends back in Bangkok on day 25. You will need to arrange your own flight to Denpasar Airport in Bali. The cost of this flight is not included in the trip price.
Depending on your itinerary dates, there might be a bit of time between the Thailand and Bali parts of your trip. In this instance, most travellers will travel to Bali and spend some independent time there. You can arrive up to five days in advance of the Bali Intro start date and still take up the inclusive transfer if you book your extra accommodation through us. If you would like to arrive before your Bali start date, please let us know at time of booking.
You will need to arrange your flight from Bangkok to Denpasar Airport to arrive in time for the first day of your Bali Intro itinerary. An airport transfer is included. Our team will collect you and take you to your accommodation. Your trip will finish in the town of Ubud. A return airport transfer is not included, but your guide can help arrange this for you. A transfer by minivan to Denpasar Airport takes around 1.5 hours and costs approx. £5. We recommend you do not book an onward flight out of Bali until around 1pm at the earliest on the final day.
Please note: We try to run as many of our start dates back-to-back, so your Bali Intro can begin as soon as your Thai Adventure ends. On occasion, there might be days between where you will need to arrange your own accommodation. Please contact us for details.
Absolute Oz Jobs
You should arrange your flight from Denpasar to arrive in Sydney in time for the first day of your Absolute Oz Jobs itinerary. You will need to go to a pre-set meeting point at Sydney airport to catch the shuttle bus that’ll take you directly to your hostel to begin your first week of fun and adventure. If you want to arrive a few days earlier, we will be more than happy to help you organise any additional accommodation (at extra cost). Please contact us for further details.
24 nights accommodation is included on your Thai Adventure. Most nights will be spent in hostels. Rooms are a combination of single-sex and mixed-sex dorms. We’ve hand-picked an incredible selection of hostel accommodation, perfect for young travellers looking for an upscale look and a sociable atmosphere. Rooms are dorm-style with a Thai-chic feel and all your creature comforts taken care of.
Accommodation at the elephant project is in simple huts in the grounds, so you’ll be sleeping right next to the elephants! Rooms are simple, but clean and comfortable with dorm-style beds and mosquito nets. On the overnight trek we’ll be staying in a rustic retreat and in Khao Sok National Park, we’ve got something really special lined up with a night in a ‘float-house’ – a Thai bungalow built on a raft! The facilities may be basic, but the setting is out of this world.
Please note: In some of the hotels along the way, you may be asked to pay a security deposit of £15 - £20. This is standard practice across Thailand. This is fully refundable on departure, as long as there’s no damage to your room.
11 nights’ accommodation are included. You’ll be staying in high-end backpacker accommodation and hotels on Bali, all of which include their own swimming pools, private bathrooms, air conditioning and hot water. Two nights will be spent in a gorgeous guesthouse with pool in Kuta, one night will be spent in a hotel in Canggu, two nights will be spent in a hostel in Lovina with spectacular mountain views and a pool, three nights will be spent in a hotel on the idyllic island of Gili Trawangan, and three nights will be spent in a hotel in the town of Ubud.
Two of the nights will be in multi-share, mixed dorm accommodation, with rooms sleeping 4-7 people. The rest of your accommodation will be in the form of twin or quad-share rooms. Free Wi-Fi is available in every location, and laundry services are available on all nights except 4 and 5.
8 breakfasts, 1 lunch, and 2 dinners are included on this tour. Other meals on the trip are at your own cost. Dietary requirements can be catered for but please inform us of these at the time of booking.

Due to Australian Working Holiday Visa regulations, this trip is only available to those aged 18-30.
Without a visa, British nationals arriving by air can remain in the country for a maximum of 30 days. If you wish to extend your trip for more than 30 days, you will need to apply for a tourist visa before you depart the UK.
British visitors arriving in Bali (or anywhere in Indonesia) will be issued with a free visa on arrival, valid for a stay of up to 30 days. You must have a passport with at least 6 months’ validity from your arrival date.
If you wish to stay in Indonesia for longer than 30 days, you will no longer be able to extend your visa in-country, so you will need to apply for a 60-day tourist/social visa in advance of travel.
As you are planning to work in Australia whilst you’re here, you’ll need to apply for a Working Holiday Visa. You can choose to book your Absolute Oz programme with the visa included.
Please note: If you have a criminal record, you are able to apply for a Working Holiday Visa, but due to the specific information required while filling out the application form we will not be able to process your visa for you, and this must be applied for individually.
To be eligible, applicants need to meet the following requirements:
- Hold a passport issued by an eligible country or region
- Be aged 18-30 (inclusive) at the time of applying
- Not be accompanied by dependent children at any time during their stay in Australia
- Meet health, character, and financial requirements
- Not have previously entered Australia on a Working Holiday visa (unless applying for a second-year visa)

How to apply:
You can choose our inclusive visa booking option and we can process your Working Holiday Visa application for you, or you might want to apply for your own visa via Australian Immigration.
It’s your responsibility to obtain the necessary visas for your time away. Visa rules are subject to change without prior notice, so please do check visa requirements at the time of your trip.
This trip is designed with your safety and wellbeing in mind. As a result of Covid-19, many of our suppliers and partners around the world are introducing new policies and procedures surrounding health and safety in response to the Coronavirus outbreak. As the state of travel is evolving these new safety measures will adapt over time, and will be different for each trip. Here are some of the changes you may see on your trip:
Arrival safety meetings
Most trips have an arrival meeting on the first day where the guide or local team will run through the trip, the safety protocols, and to answer any questions you may have. Now more than ever it is important you arrive in time for these meetings.
Updated hygiene and safety procedures
Our suppliers and partners have health and safety procedures in place on all of our trips. These protocols will be updated and adapted as a response to the Coronavirus outbreak, dependent on local restrictions and laws.
Transport and accommodation choices
Our suppliers and partners choose the accommodation and transport on our trips very carefully, and you may see a change to what would normally be used as a response to the outbreak. This may involve such changes as enhanced use of private transport or quieter accommodation.
Trained and knowledgeable staff
Our staff in the UK are trained to help you with your trip before you depart and answer any questions you may have. In addition, the local team and guides on our trips are there to help with any health and safety concerns and to ensure our trips run safely and smoothly.
Reduced group sizes
Some trips will run with reduced group sizes to start with. You may find that trips are more intimate and chilled, whilst still being packed with fun and adventure.
Your guide or the local team will be on hand to help you seek medical attention should you require it during your trip. As medical facilities and standards can vary around the world, you should ensure you have adequate travel insurance in place before you depart to cover you for any medical emergencies.
24/7 emergency support
We operate an emergency phone line for our travellers abroad. This is operated by a UK based member of staff 24/7 if you have a genuine emergency or urgent matter that you need attending.
It is important that you take measures to make travelling safer for yourself and others around you. Ensure you frequently wash your hands, cover your face when you sneeze and cough, bring and use your own hand sanitiser and facial coverings/masks, and enable social distancing where necessary. You should also ensure you listen to the instructions and guidance of the local team at all times, and follow all local laws and restrictions.
