Day 1: New York City! Welcome to the Big Apple! Our first activity is as iconic as it gets with a high-octane speedboat ride to Lady Liberty! Then take a walking tour of some of the city’s highlights before a pizza party in Bryant Park with views of the Empire State Building. What a day!

Day 2: New York City. Kick off with a stroll along the iconic Brooklyn Bridge, before a tour of Brooklyn including Brooklyn Heights and DUMBO. Enjoy lunch at Time Out Market, and a wander through Brooklyn Bridge Park before a scenic ferry ride to hip Williamsburg.

Day 3: New York City. Start your day with bagels and the Beatles in Strawberry Fields, before a stroll through the Highline Garden. Then savour the flavours of Chelsea Market ahead of a walking tour of the Financial District. Last up, it’s One World Trade Centre Observatory for breathtaking city views.

Day 4: NYC to Washington DC. Arrive mid-afternoon and refuel with a Chilli bowl at Obama’s favourite eatery! The afternoon’s yours to explore. Head to historic Georgetown or visit Arlington National Cemetery before an evening in the city’s awesome bars.

Day 5: Washington DC. We’ve got a whole day tour lined up including the U.S. Capitol, the National Museum of African American History and Culture, The Whitehouse, the Lincoln, Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial and more!

Day 6: Washington to Boston. Arrive in Boston in the afternoon and walk across the Common to Little Italy for dinner. After some delicious pizza and pasta, round off with a world-famous cannoli from Mike’s Pastry.

Day 7: Boston. Start your day with an unforgettable whale-watching tour. Then head to one of Boston’s favourites, Quincy Market, for lunch, before spending the afternoon walking the Freedom Trail and visiting Harvard University.

Day 8: Boston to Las Vegas. Pack your bags – we’re flying to Vegas baby! Check into your luxe casino hotel in the heart of the entertainment district and enjoy a drink in the bar with the group before strolling down to the neon-lit Strip and checking out the awe-inspiring Bellagio water show.

Day 9: Las Vegas. Spend the morning by the pool, before a tour of Vegas’ most iconic sights, including a stop at the famous Vegas sign, Circus Circus, and the Arts District. After dinner at Doña Marias, get ready to go large. What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas!

Day 10: Las Vegas to Williams, Arizona. So long Vegas! Visit the Hoover Dam, take a hike up the Mike O'Callaghan–Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge, and roll down Route 66 to kitsch Seligman. Spend the evening at Frontier BBQ and Beer Garden before a night in our Arizona camp.

Day 11: The Grand Canyon.  Tick off a bucket-list biggie today with a visit to one of the most spectacular places on Earth. Hike through the jaw-dropping scenery and gaze in awe. This evening, catch the shuttle back to camp in time for s’mores under the stars.

Day 12: The Grand Canyon to Vegas. Start the day with some coffee and American pie before trying axe-throwing! Then get the chance to fire some guns on an optional shooting range visit, before travelling back to Vegas for another night on the Strip.

Day 13: Las Vegas to LA. Take the bus to the sun-soaked city of LA today where we’ll be staying in beautiful Santa Monica. Head to the 3rd Street Promenade for stellar shopping and dining, then enjoy a sunset stroll before joining the arcade challenge on Santa Monica Pier!

Day 14: Los Angeles. Take the Metro to Sunset Boulevard where we’ll visit the Hollywood Boulevard and the Walk of Fame and enjoy a classic California burger lunch at the In-N-Out. This evening hike up to Griffiths Observatory for incredible views and a jaw-dropping show at the Planetarium.

Day 15: LA day or theme parks. We’ve got some amazing optional activities on offer today with trips to Universal Studios or Disneyland! If you’re not planning to live the theme park life, you might like to give something back to the local community and volunteer at Heal the Bay.

Day 16: LA beach volleyball. Today is yours to enjoy the LA lifestyle. This afternoon we’ll meet up for a special beach volleyball class with an experienced coach before a last night out in LA.

Day 17: Yosemite. Today we head to Union Station and catch a mix of train/bus through California to our amazing next bucket list destination - Yosemite National Park! Tonight we’re staying in a mountain resort!

Day 18: Yosemite. It's an early start today as we head into the national park for a guided tour with a local specialist. This afternoon you have free time in the park to check out some of the highlights. Tonight we head to the resort cafe to toast our amazing adventure. 

Day 19: Yosemite to San Francisco. Travel to San Francisco by train where we’ll hop on a cable-car for amazing views of the city! Soak up the art, culture and vibes in Chinatown and North Beach on a scenic stroll, before dinner in Chinatown at the legendary House of Nanking.

Day 20: San Francisco. Explore San Fran on two wheels with a bike tour of the city, including crossing the famous Golden Gate Bridge. Enjoy a beer-hall lunch in Sausalito before heading back to the city on the ferry, and getting ready for a last big night out.

Day 21: Trip end. Spend your last morning on an optional visit to Alcatraz or take your time getting to know the city better. Then it’s time to pack your bags, say goodbye to the group and either head home or continue your travels.

Arrival information

Our pre-departure briefing takes place on day 1 at midday at our starting accommodation in New York. We would suggest that you arrive the day before in case of flight delays (we can advise you on booking pre-tour accommodation). New York has 3 main airports, and we recommend flying into JFK airport. Upon arrival make your way to our starting accommodation which will take around 60 minutes by public transport.

The trip ends on day 21 in San Francisco. We recommend flying out the day after the tour ends if you want to experience more of the Bay Area as there are optional activities available on day 21.

Accommodation & meals

Accommodation

20 nights’ accommodation is included on this trip in a mixture of hotels and hostels, including 2 nights in a Vegas Casino hotel and 2 nights in cosy cabins at the Grand Canyon. Accommodation is on a multi-share basis. Rooms are a combination of single sex and mixed sex during the trip. If you are travelling as a pair and want to upgrade to a double room at an additional cost, contact us for details. If you’d like to book extra nights of accommodation before or after the trip, speak to your travel advisor for more information. 

Meals

9 breakfasts, 2 lunches, and 3 dinners are included on this trip. You’ll have to buy the rest of your meals yourself.

Minimum age & eligibility

You’ll need to be a minimum of 18 years old to participate in this trip.

You will need to get a visa or an Electronic System for Travel Authorisation (ESTA) visa waiver to enter or transit the USA as a visitor. You should consult the US State Department website to determine which you will need.

If you’re under 21, you won’t be able to enter bars, clubs or other establishments where alcohol is served. It’s recommended that even if you are over 21, you always carry a valid form of ID.
