Visit legendary historical spots and iconic cities, from Las Vegas to New Orleans, Nashville, Memphis, Washington DC, and more! There’s no better way to explore the land of the free, so strap on your cowboy boots and dig out your dollars for a truly iconic road trip through the USA.

Further trip information

Day 1: San Francisco.  Arrive at any time during the day, in time for a 7pm welcome meeting.

Day 2: San Francisco to Yosemite NP (1D). See Golden Gate Bridge as you cruise out of San Francisco to set up camp in Yosemite National Park.

Day 3: Yosemite National Park (1B,1L,1D). Spend a free day hiking and exploring in spectacular Yosemite National Park.

Day 4: Sierra Nevadas (1B,1L,1D). See sensational scenery along the Tioga Pass (weather permitting). See awe-inspiring tufa rock towers at Mono Lake. Soak in secluded hot springs.

Day 5-6: Sierra Nevadas/Las Vegas (1B,1L).  Visit North America's lowest point, the hot, dry landscape of Death Valley, before hitting Las Vegas and the legendary strip. Optional VIP limo ride.

Day 7-8: Grand Canyon National Park (1B,1L,2D).  Trek in the breathtaking landscape of the Grand Canyon, enjoy an optional helicopter flight or watch the Grand Canyon movie.

Day 9: Grand Canyon/Monument Valley (1B,1L). Discover mighty Monument Valley. Learn about local Navajo culture and the lives of the Pueblo people on an optional overnight 4x4 excursion with a Navajo guide (USD100).

Day 10: Monument Valley/Durango (1B,1L,1D). Explore unique cliff dwellings as you hike in Mesa Verde National Park. End the day in Durango. 

Day 11: Durango/Santa Fe (1B,1L). Discover America's South West in the stunning city of Santa Fe.

Day 12: Santa Fe/Carlsbad (1B,1D). Stop off at the alien site of Roswell. Take a guided tour of the Carlsbad Caverns, marvelling at the sight of 400,000 bats heading out to hunt at sunset.

Day 13: Carlsbad/Austin (1B,1L). See more stunning US scenery as you sit back and relax on a 9-hour road trip to Texas. Get into the Western vibe as you settle down for a night under the Texas stars. 

Day 14: Austin (1B). Take a free day to discover Texas today. Hang out in the lively city of Austin or opt to join a day trip to the city of San Antonio and visit the famous site of the Battle of the Alamo.

Day 15-16: New Orleans (2B). Visit the home of jazz and jambalaya, the city of New Orleans. You can also take an optional swamp tour, city or cemetery tour, or cruise the Mississippi on a steamboat.

Day 17-18: Memphis/Nashville (2B,2L). Visit the home of music in Memphis, and take optional tours of the Rock & Soul Museum or Elvis's home at Graceland. Learn about a key stage in American history at the National Civil Rights Museum, on the site where Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated. Then travel to Nashville and hang out in the home of country music.

Day 19: Appalachia (1B,1L,1D).  Trek through trails in the amazing Appalachian Mountains and soak up some sensational scenery.

Day 20: Appalachia/Washington DC (1B,1L,1D). En route to Washington DC, stop off in stunning Shenandoah National Park. Visit Arlington Cemetery before seeing the iconic monuments and museums in America's capital city lit up on a moonlight tour.

Day 21: Washington DC (1B). A free day to discover all the sights of the US capital city. 

Day 22: Washington DC/New York City (1B,1L). Drive from Washington to the Big Apple, stopping off for lunch en route. See all the famous sites of New York City and sample the lively nightlife. Your epic American road trip ends this evening! We recommend booking an extra night in New York City before departing.

Please note: Due to the late arrival in New York City on the final day, we strongly recommend booking an extra night of accommodation and flying out the following day. If you must depart on day 22, you should not book a flight before 9pm. Please speak to a travel advisor for more details.
