Jordan has a diverse Mediterranean climate with varied seasons. The north of Jordan, including the capital Amman, has warm summers with mild winters. South Jordan (Wadi Rum) has hotter summers and colder winters; temperatures can drop below freezing at night. The Dead Sea has comfortable temperatures year-round.
Summer falls between June and August, bringing hot and dry temperatures of 32°C. Spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) bring warm days and cool nights. Temperatures drop in winter, average of 11°C during the day.

Best Time To Visit

The best time to visit Jordan comes down to preference. Spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) are popular times for visiting spots like Petra and Wadi Rum. The weather is warm and pleasant, ideal for wandering around and exploring. Whilst winter (December to February) is cooler, you can visit iconic sites without the crowds. 

The Jerash Festival of Culture and Arts is held in the summer (June to August), in the beautifully preserved Roman ruins of Jerash. Travellers can experience Jordanian music, theatre and traditional performances - this is one of the country’s most popular events of the year.

Customs & Culture

Jordan is a country with a vibrant culture and enticing history, famous sites and wonders of the world that will transport travellers back to the ancient world. Jordan’s culture is rooted in Islamic traditions, with Arabic as the official language. Travellers should be conscious of respecting local traditions. All travellers should dress modestly, especially in religious areas, and public displays of affection are uncommon. 

Travellers will enjoy experiencing the culture as they wander the captivating streets and browse the traditional souks. This is a great place to pick up a few souvenirs - haggling is expected in local markets and is part of the culture! Entry requirements and visa regulations are different for every destination and your purpose of travel. We recommend staying updated on the latest official information before you go travelling. Your passport should be undamaged and have enough blank pages for stamps and visas. Many countries require your passport to have at least 6 months of validity beyond the date of entry.

When travelling on one of our Jordan trips, travellers should dress modestly and comfortably. Outside of tourist resorts, travellers should cover their shoulders and knees. Due to the hot and humid weather, pack loose-fitting, breathable clothing. Some examples are linen trousers, maxi skirts and long-sleeve tops. Pack layers, as the temperature can be cooler in the evenings. Wear a headscarf for religious sites.

However, travellers should keep in mind that prices and rules may be different compared to home.
