Spend 12 days discovering the wonders of Sri Lanka on a shoestring!

Please note: The following is the 2017 itinerary. If you are travelling in 2018, you will follow a slightly different route. Please see the end of this itinerary for more information.

Day 1: Arrive in Negombo. Welcome to Sri Lanka! Arrive and explore the beach town of Negombo. Meet your group and guide at an evening welcome meeting.

Day 2: Negombo to Polonnaruwa. Free time to discover Negombo. Journey on to the temple area of Polonnaruwa. Join an optional trip to see the extraordinary Dambulla Cave Temples (USD12). Breakfast included.

Day 3: Polonnaruwa. Visit a nearby village and enjoy a traditional lunch with the local people. Free time to explore the ancient ruins of Polonnaruwa or take a trip to the stunning Sigiriya Rock Fortress (USD30). Breakfast and lunch included.

Day 4: Polonnaruwa. Make the most of a final, free day in the Polonnaruwa region, taking in all the incredible temples, caves and historic sites. Breakfast included.

Day 5: Polonnaruwa to Kandy. Visit a spice garden and learn about Ayurveda treatments. Travel on to Kandy. Optional tour of the world-famous Temple of the Tooth (USD10). Optional cultural dance performance this evening. (USD3-5). Breakfast included.

Day 6: Kandy to Nuwara Eliya. Head out of Kandy by train, to the beautiful tea-producing town of Nuwara Eliya. Visit the homes of local tea workers and a tea factory. Breakfast included.

Day 7: Nuwara Eliya to Bandarawela. Join an unforgettable, optional hike in the spectacular surroundings of Horton Plains National Park (extra cost of USD25). Travel on to the bustling market town of Bandarawela. Breakfast included.

Day 8: Bandarawela. Hike up into the picturesque hills which surround Bandarawela this morning. Sign up for an optional cooking class or snap up souvenirs at the lively local market. Breakfast included.

Day 9: Bandarawela to Hikkaduwa. Travel on by local bus to the beach resort of Hikkaduwa. With its palm fronds and golden sands, this is the ideal spot to relax and unwind. Enjoy a slice of Sri Lankan paradise! Breakfast included.

Day 10: Hikkaduwa. Make the most of this free day. Laze on the beach, join an optional dolphin-spotting tour. Breakfast included.

Day 11: Hikkaduwa to Colombo. Arrive in the buzzing capital city of Colombo. Discover the Pettah district, famous for its historic sites and colourful bazaars. Why not celebrate with a farewell dinner and drinks? Breakfast included.

Day 12: Colombo. Your amazing tour ends today in Colombo. You are free to depart at any time. Look back on 12 days of unforgettable adventures in stunning Sri Lanka! Breakfast included. 


If you are travelling after 1st January 2018 you will follow a slightly different itinerary, which takes in some exciting new destinations!

The 2018 itinerary will run as follows: 

Day 1: Negombo. Arrive in time for an evening welcome meeting.

Day 2: Negombo/Anuradhapura. Enjoy a community meal en route to Anuradhapura. Free time to explore this afternoon. Lunch included.

Day 3: Anuradhapura. Free day. Why not visit Dambulla Cave Temple or the Sigiriya Rock Fortress?

Day 4: Anuradhapura/Kandy. Drop into a spice garden on the road to Kandy. Opt to visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth or watch a Kandyan cultural dance.

Day 5: Kandy. Free day to make the most of everything Kandy has to offer.

Day 6: Kandy/Nuwara Eliya. Discover spectacular Nuwara Eliya. Visit a tea plantation and wander the local area.

Day 7: Nuwara Eliya/Ella. Opt to trek through beautiful Horton Plains this morning and then travel to Ella. Kick back and relax, or turn up the heat with an optional cooking class.

Day 8: Ella. Trek to Little Adam’s Peak and take in the gorgeous views from the summit. Enjoy some free time in Ella this afternoon.

Day 9: Ella/Hikkaduwa. Depart Ella and head for the coast, stopping off for a tour of beautiful Galle Fort.

Day 10-12: Hikkaduwa. Enjoy blissful beach time on this stunning coastline. Tour ends on day 12.
