Begin in Brazil in the buzz of Rio, relax on idyllic islands, discover colonial Paraty and be awed by the mighty Iguassu Falls before chilling in beautiful Bonito and taking an unforgettable 2-day wildlife excursion into Brazil’s beautiful Pantanal area. Hop across into Bolivia and soak up the atmosphere of Sucre and Potosí before going on an epic 3-day excursion into the unique Salt Flats of the Salar de Uyuni, ending your exciting trip in the city of La Paz.

Please note: The following is the 2017 itinerary. If you are travelling in 2018, you will follow a slightly different route. Please see the end of this itinerary for more information.

Day 1: Rio de Janeiro. Arrive at any time. 7pm welcome meeting followed by optional group dinner.

Days 2-6: Ilha Grande/Paraty. Travel by bus and ferry to the gorgeous Ilha Grande: Free time to enjoy hikes and walks around the island or relax on the beautiful beaches. Travel by bus to the colonial city of Paraty, for free time or optional activities such as a cachaça distillery visit or a boat tour of the bay and nearby beaches.

Days 7-9: Iguassu Falls. From São Paulo fly to the Iguassu Falls area to explore both the Argentine and Brazilian sides of the falls. Optional boat ride or time to gaze at the spectacular sight of the falls!

Days 10-11: Bonito. Continue by bus to the beautiful area of Bonito. Optional activities include snorkelling in crystal-clear rivers or exploring stunning caves and waterfalls.

Days 12-15: Pantanal/Corumbá/Santa Cruz. 2-day wildlife excursion into the wetlands of the Pantanal with a local guide: You may spot wildlife such as monkeys, macaws, giant otters and caiman. Travel into Santa Cruz in Bolivia by overnight train.

Days 16-18: Sucre. Fly on to Sucre and enjoy free time in the colonial city. Pay an optional visit to the nearby dinosaur tracks.

Day 19: Potosí. Bus to Potosí for free time or an optional excursion to a working silver mine.

Days 20-23: Uyuni/Salt Flats Excursion. Enjoy a 3-day 4x4 excursion to the Uyuni Salt Flats and surrounding sensational desert scenery. Travel to La Paz by overnight train on Day 23.

Day 24: La Paz. Explore La Paz on an optional city tour and spend free time discovering the city’s winding streets and amazing markets.

Day 25: La Paz. Your tour ends after breakfast today and you can depart at any time.


If you are travelling after 1st January 2018, you will follow a slightly different itinerary. The main changes are as follows:

  • Day 9. You will spend today travelling to Bonito, rather than visiting the Brazilian side of Iguassu Falls.
  • Day 12. During your time at Pantanal you will experience a fantastic 2-day wildlife excursion. Spot colourful macaws, Jabiru storks, monkeys and giant river otters!
  • Day 15. Today you will hop on a flight to La Paz, the capital of Bolivia. Spend the afternoon exploring.
  • Day 16. Today you will fly to Sucre.
  • Day 21. As part of your salt flats excursion. You will visit a rural community lodge. Learn about their way of life and take a guided walk to the sacred Jukil mountain for a view spectacular over the salt flats.
  • Day 23: Overnight bus to La Paz, not train.
