Further trip information

Day 1: Buenos Aires. Touch down in Argentina and make your way across to your city accommodation. Meet the rest of your group at a welcome meeting.

Day 2: Buenos Aires. Free time to explore this buzzing city. Optional activities include a guided city tour and a tango experience.

Please note: All optional activities on the trip are at extra cost.

Day 3: Buenos Aires/Colonia.  Cross the Rio de la Plata by ferry to Colonia, Uruguay. Get your bearings with an orientation walk and then explore.

Day 4-5: Colonia/Montevideo. Discover Uruguay’s capital, Montevideo. Enjoy free time to explore. Optional activities include cycling the coast, or visiting the bustling port market. Breakfasts included.

Day 6: Montevideo/Estancia Stay. Journey through the countryside to an authentic Uruguayan ranch. Sit round the campfire with your group and drink local wine. Breakfast, lunch and dinner included.

Day 7: Estancia. Learn about life on the ranch. Learn to milk a cow and whip up some traditional empanadas. Breakfast, lunch and dinner included.

Day 8: Estancia/Iguassu Falls. Leave the ranch behind and begin the long journey across the border into Argentina and on to Iguassu Falls. Breakfast included.

Day 9-10: Iguassu Falls. Explore the Argentine side of these incredible falls. – a true natural wonder of the world. Optional boat ride along the Iguassu River (extra cost).

Day 11-12: Iguassu Falls/Paraty. Fly to Sao Paulo then travel along the coast to Paraty.  Free time to soak up the sun on the beach. Optional cachaça distillery visit or boat tour of the bay. Alternatively, you can simply spend your time sunbathing, swimming and snorkelling in this gorgeous area. Breakfast included on day 12.

Day 13-14: Paraty/Ilha Grande. Take a ferry across to Ilha Grande. Free time to explore this unspoilt island, relax on the beach, or take an optional boat tour. Breakfast included on day 13.

Day 15: Ilha Grande/Rio de Janeiro. Head to lively Rio to soak up the party vibe in this amazing city.

Day 16: Rio de Janeiro. Free time to explore Rio from your Copacabana base.

Day 17: Rio de Janeiro. Your tour ends today in Rio! Stick around for more independent travel adventures or head to the airport. Breakfast included.

Arrival information

You should arrange your flights into Ministro Pistarini International Airport in Buenos Aires (commonly referred to as Ezeiza airport). The airport is 22 miles out of the city, about a 40 minute taxi ride away. A taxi to the city centre costs approximately USD45 and can be arranged from the official taxi counter inside the Arrivals area.

There is also a bus company that can take you to your hotel in the centre of Buenos Aires. Manuel Tienda Leon is the most well-known company and travel costs about USD17. Their counter is at the customs exit

Accommodation & meals

16 nights of accommodation are included. 9 nights will be in simple hotels in twin or triple share rooms, 4 nights will be in multi-share hostels, 2 nights will be in multi-share rooms on a ranch and 1 night will be on an overnight bus. Multi-share nights will be single sex with between 4 to 6 people. Single-room upgrades may be available for extra cost, please contact a travel advisor for more details. 

12 breakfasts, 2 lunches and 2 dinners are included, during your ranch stay. 

 

Minimum age & eligibility

The minimum age to join this trip is 18. This trip is designed for travellers aged 18-39.

All countries require a valid passport (with a minimum 6 months validity). Contact your local embassy, or consulate for the most up-to-date visa requirements.
