There are two Volunteer + Adventure Bali options to choose from:
Option 1: 3 Weeks Teaching/Childcare Volunteering + 12-day Bali Intro
Option 2: 3 Weeks Turtle Conservation + 12-day Bali Intro
Part 1: Volunteering (3 Weeks)
Week 1: Cultural Introduction Week
Before you begin your teaching or turtle conservation volunteering, you will enjoy a week of orientation activities in Bali. During this week you will learn a little more about the project you will be working with, as well as exploring more of Ubud. You’ll discover the inhabitants of Monkey Forest, learn the local lingo with two Balinese language lessons, learn to whip up tasty cuisine at a cooking class and pay a visit to the famous PuraTirtaEmpul Temple. Your volunteering will then begin on the following Monday.
Option 1: Teaching and Childcare Volunteering (2 weeks)
Make a real difference in the lives of Balinese children with this super-rewarding volunteer programme. Help out at a local primary school, teaching kids aged 4-14, or volunteer at a pre-school, caring for children aged between 4 and 5.
You can either help out as a teaching volunteer or a childcare volunteer:
On this project you will either volunteer at a primary school or a teaching centre. You will help kids aged between 4 and 14 to learn English, using games, songs and sports to make learning fun and creative. You will spend 2 hours each morning planning your lessons and then 3 hours in the afternoon delivering classes. There are usually between 10 and 30 kids in each class.
As a childcare volunteer, you will be helping out at a local pre-school, which offers free education to children from poorer areas of Bali. You will teach children aged between 4 and 5, encouraging communication skills and basic English. You will spend 3 hours every morning helping out at the pre-school. In the afternoon you will spend a few hours planning fun and engaging lessons for the next day.
Please note: There are religious holidays in Bali in June and July and during this time the schools in Bali will be closed. There are also occasional religious holiday days scattered throughout the year. At these times, volunteers will get involved in school maintenance and renovation projects inthe community instead of teaching.
Option 2: Turtle Conservation Volunteering (2 weeks)
Experience life on a dreamy island, helping protect and maintain the turtle population in the area.
Over the two weeks of your volunteer placement you will assist in a range of tasks, including rescuing and rehabilitating turtles who get caught up and injured in fishermen’s nets. Between May and September, it is turtle nesting season, and you may get a chance to help out with nesting sites, eggs and hatchlings, although as weather conditions can affect turtle breeding, we cannot guarantee there will be eggs or baby turtles present when you visit. You will also make a difference by helping to teach English at local island schools, and assisting with community projects such as painting buildings and delivering environmental education.
Part 2: Bali Intro (12 days)
Volunteering ends on a Saturday. You will then make your own way to Denpasar and begin your Bali Intro experience. Depending on start dates there may be a few days between then end of your volunteer programme and the beginning of your Bali Intro. If this is the case, you will need to organise extra accommodation at your own cost. This is also a great chance to explore more of Bali for yourself!
