Day 1: Arrive in New York City. Kick off your adventure in the Big Apple! Hit the bright lights of NYC as you arrive at any time today. There are no scheduled activities apart from a welcome meeting this evening. Get ready for the road trip of a lifetime!

Day 2: New York City to Washington DC. Stop in Philadelphia to visit Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell. Travel to Washington DC for a moonlight tour of the city’s famous monuments and memorials. Dinner included.

Day 3: Washington DC. Spend a full day discovering all the wonders of Washington on a free day. See the White House, George Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial and the National Mall. Breakfast and dinner included.

Day 4: Washington DC to Allegheny National Forest. Make tracks for the great American outdoors and the awe-inspiring Allegheny Reservoir in Pennsylvania. Get close to nature in this unspoilt spot. Breakfast, lunch and dinner included.

Day 5: Allegheny National Forest to Niagara Falls. Travel to Niagara Falls for the legendary 1-hour ‘Maid of the Mist’ boat tour. Optional Cave of the Winds tour (USD12). Optional casino trip. Breakfast, lunch and dinner included.

Day 6: Niagara Falls to Toronto. Cross the border into Canada and arrive in Toronto. Enjoy a short orientation tour and free time in the city. Your campsite is located just outside the city. Breakfast included.

Day 7: Toronto. Enjoy a full free day to make the most of all that Toronto has to offer. Grab a coffee and watch the world go by, stroll down atmospheric Queen Street, discover the Toronto Islands by ferry, or hit the cobbled streets of the Distillery District. Breakfast, lunch and dinner included.

Day 8: Ottawa. Your next stop is Canada’s capital city, Ottawa. After a 5-6 hour bus ride through the beautiful landscapes of Canada, enjoy some free time to explore and relax after your journey. Breakfast, lunch and dinner included.

Day 9: Ottawa to Montreal. Continue on to your next Canadian destination, the French-flavoured city of Montreal. Your guide will give you a brief orientation to find your bearings, before you settle down for a night in your city centre hotel. Breakfast included.

Day 10: Montreal. Make the most of this full, free day in the beautiful, bilingual city of Montreal. Relax at Mount Royal Park or have adrenaline fun at La Ronde Amusement Park (CAD45). Breakfast included.

Day 11: Montreal to Boston. Cross back over the border into the USA. Travel through Vermont to the US city of Boston. Your guide will give you a brief orientation session and then the rest of the day is yours to explore. Breakfast included.

Day 12: Boston to Cape Cod. Enjoy a free morning in Boston before travelling to Cape Cod, famous for its beautiful beaches. Your campsite is only a 20-minute walk from the beach - don’t miss sunset over the sea. Dinner included.

Day 13: Cape Cod. Relax in the stunning beach surroundings of Cape Cod and enjoy a free day. Laze on the beach or join an optional whale watching tour (USD47). Breakfast and dinner included.

Day 14: Cape Cod to New York City. Return to New York and do some last sightseeing or shopping, or enjoy a final meal and drinks out with your new friends. Look back on two weeks of amazing road trip memories! Breakfast included. The US leg of your tour ends in New York City today and you are free to depart at any time. Now time to head south and continue the adventure!

Day 1-2: Buenos Aires. Arrive at any time. Free time to explore this vibrant city.

Day 3-5: Colonia/Montevideo.  Cross the Rio de la Plata by ferry to Colonia, Uruguay then on to Uruguay’s capital, Montevideo. Explore the area for yourself or choose from a range of exciting optional adventures – opt to cycle down the Rambla or take a day trip to Punta del Este. Delve into this city’s vibrant nightlife . 

Day 6-8: Estancia/ranch stay. Head towards a small rural village for a stay at a working cattle ranch. Get involved with ranch activities or spend time lazing around in the grass and sampling regional wines. Overnight bus to Argentine border on day 8.

Day 9-10: Iguassu Falls. Visit the jaw-dropping Iguassu Falls that split the Brazilian/Argentine border. Optional boat ride. 

Day 11-12: Paraty.  Fly to Sao Paulo then travel along the coast to Paraty.  Free beach time.  Enjoy some free time to explore the coast and choose from a range of optional activities, including hiking the Gold Trail, taking a jeep tour around the island, horseback riding and a boat ride with cocktails. 

Day 13-15: Ilha Grande.  Enjoy two days soaking up the sun and taking part in activities on this unique island. Opt to take a surf lesson, go diving and explore an underwater helicopter wreck, take a mountain bike tour across the island, trek through wonderful stretches of rainforest or climb up to Pico do Papagaio.

Day 16-17: Rio de Janeiro.  Free time to explore Rio from your Copacabana base. Depart from Rio de Janeiro on day 17 when your tour ends.

Arrival information

US and Canada

You should arrange your own arrival into New York on day 1. There are no activities planned for this first day, but please arrive in time for a 7pm welcome meeting.

Airport transfers are not included as part of the tour. It is easy to get into the city. You can take a taxi from the airport, use a shared shuttle service, or travel into NYC on the train/subway.

This Northern leg of the adventure ends on day 15 in New York. You need to travel from New York to Buenos Aires in time for the first day of the South America tour. Our flights team can help you organise travel.

South America

Airport transfers are not included but are easy to arrange. There are fixed-rate taxis outside the airport and an airport bus link which runs at regular intervals. You will need to arrive into Buenos Aires on day one of this part of your tour. We advise you arrive into time for a welcome meeting at around 7pm.

The tour ends in Rio de Janeiro on day 32. Return transfers are not included. Speak to us about your onward travel plans and we can advise you about your best transfer options.

Accommodation & meals

US and Canada

13 nights’ shared accommodation is included on this leg of the tour. This will be a combination of participation camping and hotels/hostels.

You will be provided with 2-person dome tents and camping equipment, although you should bring a proper sleeping bag and a travel pillow with you. You will pitch your own tents - they only take a few minutes to put up! All tents have built-in insect nets, and self-inflating mattresses are also provided.

12 breakfasts, 4 lunches and 8 dinners are included on this trip. Breakfasts will be breads or cereals, lunches will usually be sandwiches or salads and evening meals will be hot and freshly-prepared. Please allow USD265-345 for meals not included.

The group shares responsibility for meal preparation and washing up, and your guide will arrange a rota for this while you are on the road. Vegetarian meals and other dietary requirements can be catered for if you let us know in advance of travel. 

South America

16 nights' of accommodation ar included on this tour. This will be in a combination of simple hotels, hostels, and an overnight bus. Accommodation is usually twin or multi-share although you can book a single room at an extra cost (this option excludes the ranch stay and the overnight bus which will be in shared accommodation). 

6 breakfasts, 2 lunches and 2 dinners are included.You will be required to purchase the rest of your meals yourself. This is an excellent opportunity to make the most of travelling and immerse yourself in colourful South American culture. Interact with locals at market stalls and restaurants and sample authentic regional cuisine. Please allow USD565-735 for meals not included.

Minimum age & eligibility

The minimum age to join this trip is 18. 

Please note the legal drinking alcohol age in the USA is 21 years. If you are under 21, you will not be permitted into pubs, bars or casinos.  

British citizens visiting the USA will be able to travel (for tourism purposes) under the US Visa Waiver Programme for durations of up to 90 days. All travellers going to the United States will have to complete the ESTA form online for authorisation under the Visa Waiver Programme. Details on how to apply for this will be given to you once you have booked. 

If you intend to stay for longer than 90 days, plan to work, have ever been arrested or hold any criminal convictions however, you will need to apply for a visa. American immigration procedures can be quite confusing, so for full and further details please either call us, or contact the US Embassy.

British citizens can enter Brazil, Uruguay, and Argentina for up to 90 days without a visa, so as long as they have more than 6 months validity remaining on their passport from their first day in the country.
