Please note: The following is the 2017 itinerary. If you are travelling in 2018, you will follow a slightly different itinerary. Please see the end of this itinerary for more information.

Day 1: Tokyo. Arrive and make your way to your accommodation for a welcome meeting with your group and guide.

Day 2: Tokyo. Orientation walk around the historical Asakusa district and a visit to Sensoji temple. Free time to explore. Perhaps stroll through Yoyogi Park or feel the buzz of Shibuya crossing.

Day 3: Tokyo. Jump onto a local train to Kamakura and see the huge “Great Buddha” statue. Soak up some sun on the sandy beach. Head back to Tokyo for a wild final night in the capital!

Day 4: Tokyo/Hakone. Travel to the mountains of Hakone, an area overshadowed by an impressive snow-capped volcano. Bathe in the hot spring waters of an onsen. Free time to explore the area with your Hakone pass, which grants you unlimited access to the cable car, ropeway and tourist boats.

Day 5: Hakone/Kyoto. Spend the day in the colourful city of Kyoto. Walk through a sprawling chain of torii gates at the Fushimi Inari Taisha. Free time to explore this beautiful city.

Day 6: Kyoto. Wander through the magical bamboo forest of Arashiyama. Enjoy free time to absorb more Japanese culture and sample traditional food.

Day 7: Kyoto/Osaka. Jump on a train to Japan’s third largest city and take an orientation walk with your guide, followed by a tasty street food crawl.

Day 8: Osaka. Free time to wander around the city. Opt to tour a ramen factory and make noodles from scratch, climb up to Osaka castle or visit Hiroshima. Enjoy one final night with your group in the city’s vibrant club district.

Day 9: Osaka. Spend a final morning in Osaka and say goodbye to your group. Depart at any time.

2018

If you are travelling after 1st January 2018, you will follow a slightly different itinerary. Your tour will last 11 days and you will visit some new, exciting locations in Japan! The 2018 itinerary will run as follows:

Day 1: Tokyo. Arrive and settle into your accommodation.

Day 2: Tokyo. Orientation walk and free time in the city.

Day 3: Tokyo/Takayama. Travel to tree-lined Takayama and enjoy an orientation walk around this beautiful city. Explore in the afternoon and opt to relax in a traditional Japanese onsen.

Day 4: Takayama/Kyoto. Hop on a bullet train to colourful Kyoto. Spend the day exploring the city and enjoy a few drinks at the riverside bars this evening.

Day 5-6: Kyoto. Two free days to make the most of this incredible place. Why not visit local temples and meet geishas in Gion?

Day 7: Kyoto/Hiroshima. Train over to Hiroshima and learn about the tragic past of this city.

Day 8: Hiroshima. Visit the gorgeous Miyajima island, see the stunning floating Torii Gate, hike to the summit of Mt Misen and keep your eyes peeled for wildlife!

Day 9: Hiroshima/Osaka. Get your taste buds tingling in Osaka, one of Japan’s culinary capitals.

Day 10: Osaka. A full free day to make the most of this delicious city.

Day 11: Osaka. Depart at any time.
