Exotic good looks, a non-stop samba soundtrack, futebol on every street corner and street parties throughout the year, Brazil’s spirit is seriously infectious. This epic 8-day group tour takes you to some of the highlights of the state of Rio de Janeiro. Kick off in the state capital, on the legendary Copacabana Beach, where the sun always shines and the caiparinhas flow freely. Next it’s Paraty where we’ll wander cobbled streets, kayak tropical fjords and party the night away. Beach bums will be in heaven with two days on the unspoilt paradise island of Ilha Grande. We’ll round off back in Rio for football, favela tours and a final night out with the gang – unforgettable.

Day 1: Rio de Janeiro. Welcome to the Cidade Maravilhosa! Check in and relax after your flight or head straight out. Stroll down legendary Copacabana Beach, grab a beer from a quiosque and watch the beautiful people go by. Meet your group later and check out the city’s legendary nightlife.
Day 2: Rio to Paraty. Travel to Paraty. This colonial town has a spectacular setting with jungled mountains plunging into a beautiful bay and dazzling tropical beaches. Explore the colourful streets this afternoon. As the sun goes down, grab a caiparinha and get ready for a night of fun, Paraty-style.
Day 3: Paraty. Today we’re kayaking down Saco de Mamangua, a jaw-dropping tropical fjord. Glide through mangrove forests with your group, stopping to swim in crystal clear water. It’s a day you won’t forget in a hurry.
Day 4: Paraty to Ilha Grande. Today’s destination is the unspoilt island of Isla Grande. Home to some of the most exquisite beaches in Brazil, Ilha Grande is a beach bum’s dream. There’s little development, no cars and the vibe is laid-back to the max – bliss.
Day 5: Ilha Grande. Explore paradise today. Hike to a viewpoint, go snorkelling or just chill on the beach. Optional activities include a boat trip to some of the best beaches around the island and a diving excursion.
Day 6: Ilha Grande to Rio. Travel back to beautiful Rio today. Take an optional tour including Christ the Redeemer, Lapa Steps, Sugarloaf Mountain cable car and the Rio Cathedral. Or just explore the city at your own pace. Head to Lapa, Rio’s party district this evening, for a BIG night out.
Day 7: Rio. This morning we’ll head to a favela, where we’ll join a Capoeira session, visit a community green space and sample artisanal beers. This afternoon, enjoy your last stretch of time in Rio. Catch a football game, bliss out on Ipanema beach, or check out some of the hip boutiques.
Day 8: Trip end. Time to pack your bags and say your goodbyes. See you again soon!

This adventure starts and ends in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. You can arrive at any time on your start date, and depart at any time on your end date.
You should arrange your arrival into Galeao International Airport in Rio de Janerio, Brazil, which is a 30 to 45 minute drive from your accommodation in Copacabana, Rio. An airport transfer is not included but we recommend you visit one of the taxi stands at the airport and pay a set rate for a taxi to your hotel in Copacabana (approximately USD50).
Alternatively you can take the airport bus (approx USD9) into the Copacabana area and then hail an official yellow taxi to take you the rest of the way to your hotel (approx USD5).

7 nights’ accommodation is included. This will comprise of 3 nights in hostels in multi-share rooms and 4 nights in simple hotels on a twin-share basis. If you are travelling with a partner or friend, let your travel adviser know so we can make sure you’re in the same room. If you need pre or post trip accommodation, we can arrange that for you at an extra cost.
6 breakfasts are included on this trip. You’ll need to buy the rest of your meals and your snacks and drinks yourself. This gives you maximum flexibility to eat where and when you like and to sample the delicious local cuisine.
The minimum age to join this trip is 18. This trip is designed for travellers aged 18-39.
British citizens can enter Brazil without a visa. Your passport should be valid for a minimum of 6 months from your date of entry to Brazil.
This trip is designed with your safety and wellbeing in mind. Transport and accommodation choices
Our suppliers and partners choose the accommodation and transport on our trips very carefully, and you may see a change to what would normally be used as a response to the outbreak. This may involve such changes as enhanced use of private transport or quieter accommodation.
Trained and knowledgeable staff
Our staff in the UK are trained to help you with your trip before you depart and answer any questions you may have. In addition, the local team and guides on our trips are there to help with any health and safety concerns and to ensure our trips run safely and smoothly.
Reduced group sizes
Some trips will run with reduced group sizes to start with. You may find that trips are more intimate and chilled, whilst still being packed with fun and adventure.
Your guide or the local team will be on hand to help you seek medical attention should you require it during your trip. As medical facilities and standards can vary around the world, you should ensure you have adequate travel insurance in place before you depart to cover you for any medical emergencies.
24/7 emergency support
We operate an emergency phone line for our travellers abroad. This is operated by a UK based member of staff 24/7 if you have a genuine emergency or urgent matter that you need attending.
It is important that you take measures to make travelling safer for yourself and others around you. Ensure you frequently wash your hands, cover your face when you sneeze and cough, bring and use your own hand sanitiser and facial coverings/masks, and enable social distancing where necessary. You should also ensure you listen to the instructions and guidance of the local team at all times, and follow all local laws and restrictions.
