Arrival information

Absolute Oz: You should arrange your flights to arrive into Sydney Airport (SYD) on a Sunday, depending on your start date. You will need to go to a pre-set meeting point at Sydney airport and a greeter will direct you to the shuttle bus which will take you directly to your hostel to begin your first week of fun and adventure!

Sun, Sea, Sail & Surf: This 14-day tour starts early on day 1 in Sydney. Most travellers begin this tour immediately after the Absolute Oz introductory week in Sydney ends. Please note that the tour ends in Cairns, so in order to return to Sydney to kick start your job search you will need to arrange a domestic flight from Cairns to Sydney.

New Zealand (Option 2 only)

Please note: If you have booked option 2, you will need to book your own flight between Australia and New Zealand and the cost of this flight is not included. We recommend you fly to New Zealand once you have completed your paid work experience in Australia.

Grand Kiwi: You will need to arrange your own travel into Auckland where the tour begins. The tour departs at approximately 11:30am on day 1, so we recommend you arrive one day earlier. We can help you arrange accommodation for the pre-tour night if you wish. Please contact us for more details.

Accommodation for the first 7 nights of your stay is included, in a city centre hostel in Sydney during nights 1, 2, 3, 6 and 7, and in shared accommodation during your stay at beach camp on nights 4 and 5.

In your hostel in Sydney, you’ll enjoy modern facilities in shared dorm accommodation with up to 10 people. The hostel is a hub of exciting city action, with its own backpacker bar. The onsite café serves breakfast and there’s also a kitchen with fridges and storage. The hostel has 24-hour reception, phone booths on every floor, security lockers, laundry facilities, Internet and Wi-Fi, and a postal service.

Some meals are included in week 1: A welcome dinner and drink, 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches, 2 dinners and 4 free drinks. Other meals are not included.

What do I do about accommodation after the first week in Australia?

After the first 7 days of accommodation some people decide to extend their stay in a hostel or to rent an apartment. Our team in Sydney can assist you. Our customers often end up renting a place with the friends they meet in their first week on the programme. Expect to pay £100-£150 per week. Alternatively you can extend your stay in a hostel, which offers cheaper rates for those that want a long term stay. You can often walk in and get a room that day but we recommend that you make a reservation the night before. Expect to pay around £140-£175 per week.

Sun, Sea, Sail & Surf

13 nights’ accommodation is included (12 nights’ multi-share accommodation in hotels, lodges and cabins, 1 night on a live-aboard sailing boat). Accommodation is single-sex and is usually based on four sharing. You can upgrade to a twin or double room if you request this at the time of booking (extra cost).

As the tour ends in Cairns on the evening on day 14, you may wish to book an extra night in Cairns before flying back to Sydney. We can help you to arrange extra accommodation; please contact us for more details.

13 breakfasts, 4 lunches and 6 dinners are included. Please let us know if you have any dietary requirements at the time of booking.

New Zealand: Grand Kiwi (Option 2 only)

18 nights' accommodation is included. This is on a multi share basis, in a range of hotels, hostels, motels, cabins, an overnight boat and 1 night in a traditional Maori Marae. Accommodation is based on four people sharing in same-sex dorms. Twin or double rooms are available at an extra charge. 18 breakfasts and 8 dinners are included.
