Arrival information

The dive trip begins early on day 1, so you will need to arrive into Cairns at least the night before the dive experience begins. An airport transfer is not included. Accommodation pickups are included on day 1 from Cairns City and Northern Beaches so we recommend you stay in one of these locations.

The dive trip ends on day 3. A return transfer to Cairns City and Northern Beaches is included. If you are leaving Australia you will need to make your way to the airport yourself. Let us know your onward travel plans and we can advise you on your best transfer options.

Accommodation & meals

You will be staying on a gorgeous 25 metre long cruise vessel with two decks – one for scuba diving and one for sunbathing! There are 16 double/twin share cabins and a shared bathroom for every two cabins. These vessels are the only purpose-built outer reef dive liveaboards in the area.

Three hot and wholesome meals a day are included on board. A typical breakfast will include cereal, fruit, toast and spread, and bacon and eggs. Lunch will typically be pasta, sandwiches or soup and salad. The dinner menu will vary depending on the time of year and the availability of seasonal fruit and vegetables. Let us know if you are a vegetarian and we can cater for you.

Minimum age & eligibility

The minimum age to join this dive trip is 18.

You must have your PADI Open Water certificate to take part in the dives. If you have not yet earned your PADI certificate, check out our Learn to Dive Great Barrier Reef programme which teaches you how to dive, equips you with your PADI certificate, and offers some great underwater experiences.

You will need to complete a PADI medical statement before you travel. If any existing medical issues are noted during this process, you may be required to organise a medical assessment in order to obtain a “fit to dive” medical certificate (costs vary). This certificate must be acquired before you travel and must be valid for 90 days from the start date of your course.

All visitors to Australia, excepting those from New Zealand, will require a visa or Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) to enter the country. These must be applied for before departure, and if you’re planning on working in Australia while you’re out there you’ll need a Working Holiday Visa. If you’re just heading to Australia for fun and don’t wish to work then an ETA will suffice. Both can be applied for online.

Visa rules and regulations are subject to change. Please check the relevant embassy websites for up to date information.
